Volleyball Tournament – November 24, 2017

On November 24, 2017 the final match between House Agni and House Terra concluded the Volleyball Tournament – Boys.

House Terra won the match and aced the tournament.

On November 23, 2017, the students of SRM Amaravati, AP, began with a series of tournaments (dated : 23/11/17 to 05/12/17), and this was a part of it.

The girls had a Carrom Tournament between House Terra and House Aero. The results are yet to announced.

ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT SRM UNIVERSITY AMARAVATI

‘The Student Council’ of SRM University Amaravati organized an Exhibition on Art and Photography on 17th November 2017 with the support from SRM Student Affairs Department. 29 Students showcased their Art Work and Photographs to audience and the panel of judges comprising Dr James West – Professor, Humanities, Dr Sabina Yasmin – Assistant Professor, Economics and Dr Bhagyalaxmi Kaalidas – Assistant Professor, Environmental Sciences.IMG_1760.JPG

The faculty members graced the occasion with their presence and motivate the participants with their encouraging words.

Lecture on “Industry Connect” by Parameshwar Babu

On the afternoon of 15th November, 2017 a very special talk on ‘industry Connect’ was held in the atrium of SRM-Amaravati. The honorary guest for the afternoon was Parameshwar Babu, Managing Director, Param Projects Private Limited, Chennai. The main focus of his speech was to be connected with industries and learn their working.IMG_1475.JPG
Parameshwar Babu started his speech with a brief description of his own industry ‘Param Industries Private Limited’ and the beginning of his company by struggling and developing his own career. They introduced commercially viable Java products prior to 1999. He introduced all with the cycle of employee and employer.

IMG_1548He also described the facts or problems that take place when someone starts doing their own business or entrepreneurship such as: what stages people cross when they start their new ventures. He informed the audiences that they are working to promote the growth of work based education and how they are using the nano-technology to improve their work. He notified that they are heading for the possible outcomes of this tech-entrepreneur ecosystem from the fresher of all over the India and also he motivated everyone to be a part of the entrepreneur world. Industries look forward to have good and skilled freshers to work together, so he said everyone and motivated to be a good starter of their own business. IMG_1583.JPG
Joining an industry takes a lot of hard work and skills. This is what the world is heading towards.

An Interaction Session with MITx Course designers

SRM has collaborated with MIT to work on the design and development of its curriculum through the MITx courses. To further nurture this relationship and cement the bond, a delegation from MIT was on the grounds of SRM to hold an interaction session with the students of The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, SRM Amaravati.

The Designers of MITx Courses, Professor Brandan Muramatsu (Associate Director), Ms. Glenda S.Stump (Education Officer) and Kirkey Delouy (Project Manager) were the honorary guests of the afternoon. The event commenced with felicitation of the guests by the students and were addressed by the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Narayana Rao, SRM University AP.

Students were addressed by Professor Brandan Muramatsu. They were given an opportunity to voice their queries and doubts regarding the pre-existing courses and were informed about the new courses that are going to be introduced in second semester of the B.Tech program. He also proposed that the new courses proposed are Classical Mechanics in Physics and Advanced Calculus in Mathematics. “The problem sets and finger exercise are a great part of the course 6.000x- Introduction to Computer science and programming”, said a Computer Science student of the University.

Students clarified their doubts about specializing in various fields such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. The difference between the MITx courses and MIT classroom sessions were discussed by the speaker and students.
